If you happen to be a shareholder of Houston-based Occidental Petroleum (Oxy), you probably already know the details of the company’s third-quarter 2026 operational and realization report filed today. Call it the trailer before the movie scheduled for release November 9. When you’re the second-largest producer in the nation’s most prolific oil field during a time of war, you most likely have a few tantalizing tidbits to share ahead of an earnings release. And Oxy doesn’t disappoint with the tease.

Reese Energy Consulting is following the latest news from Oxy, which has now reported its average, realized oil prices worldwide jumped 32.6% in Q3 vs the same period last year. That translates to $85.91 per barrel compared to $64.78 a barrel, same bat time, same bat station, in 2025. Worldwide natural gas prices also gave Oxy a boost with an average $1.69 per MMCF vs $1.57, along with NGLs rising a hefty 26% from $19.60 per barrel a year earlier to $24.63 per barrel in Q3 2026.

Not everything, of course, has been rainbows and unicorns for Oxy in Q3. The company last month temporarily curtailed production at “certain Gulf of America facilities” due to a third-party gas pipeline constraint and maintenance. Production has been partially restored and expected to fully return once the constraint is resolved—which could be corporate speak for hang on, we’ve got this, and just in time for November’s earnings release.
