The U.S. LNG Industry Loses a Visionary
Reese Energy Consulting today is saddened to learn of the untimely death of Kathleen Eisbrenner, age 58, a natural born leader destined to become a pioneer in the energy industry. After earning her degree in Civil Engineering—one of only two women in her graduating class—Kathleen set off to make her own mark, choosing the LNG sector to apply her talents. Among her first achievements was serving as Founder and CEO of Excelerate Energy, where she focused on developing Floating Storage Regasification Units. The concept of FRSU ships was mostly unaccepted at first, but Kathleen forged ahead with her vision, proving their value and lower cost to store and regasify LNG offshore vs land-based facilities. The innovation was transformative, catapulting Excelerate to a global figure with more FRSU projects than any other provider. Kathleen would go on to serve as Executive Vice President at Royal Dutch Shell, but her entrepreneurial passion came calling once again. She started NextDecade in 2010, an LNG export and pipeline company linking Permian gas to world markets where she remained the founder. From all of us at Reese Energy Consulting, rest in peace Kathleen. You will be missed.
