Midstreamers Continue to Make Beautiful Noise
And just like that, another burst of midstream news has seized the limelight and it’s hard to ignore. From acquisitions and new construction to a $1 billion natural gas pipeline project offshore Staten Island, Reese Energy Consulting today shares the latest from a few of the nation’s intrepid Builders of Infrastructure Bones making beautiful noise.
First up is the $1.6 billion deal between fellow Texans and Permian rivals Western Midstream and Brazos Midstream. The purchase by Western expands its natural gas, crude oil, and NGL gathering and processing position in the core of the Delaware by 49%, adding 900 miles of pipeline, 460 MMCFD of nat gas capacity, and 470,000 dedicated acres under long-term contracts.
Dallas-based Sentinel Midstream’s aspiration to build its offshore Texas GulfLink Deepwater Crude Oil Export Terminal is on the way to becoming fully realized. Sentinel has announced the start of construction on one of the nation’s largest offshore export facilities now under development. The Texas GulfLink project, located 30 miles offshore the Texas Gulf, is designed to fully load the world’s largest oil tankers known as VLCCs (Very Large Crude Carriers) and reduce the need for lightering, which requires smaller ships to transfer crude oil from the coast to the VLCCs miles offshore.
Finally, Tulsa-based Williams is ready-set-go to begin construction of its Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) underwater natural gas pipeline off Staten Island. The $1 billion project includes a 17-mile pipeline and infrastructure upgrades in N.Y., and N.J.
