If you’re in the market for a pipeline system servicing the gas-a-plenty Haynesville, look no further than Houston-based Midcoast Energy.

Reese Energy Consulting today is following the latest news from Midcoast, which reportedly is looking for a buyer to pony up $2 billion for its East Texas gas and NGL pipelines that stretch 3,625 miles to the Gulf. The company last April completed its CJ Express expansion that added 35,000 hp of compression as well as pipeline facilities at multiple locations on the East Texas system. The project boosted pipeline capacity to 1 BCFD.

At the same time, Midcoast signed a transportation, purchase, and sales agreement with Golden Pass LNG whose $10 billion export terminal near Sabine Pass is expected to come online next year. Golden Pass is owned by affiliates of Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil. Upon completion, the facility will produce 16 million TPY of LNG. What do you think?
